em_newer

em_newer - emdebian target package version check

SYNOPSIS

em_newer PACKAGE

DESCRIPTION

em_newer

performs a similar function to rmadison - it checks the version of the requested source package in Debian against the version of the same source package in the Emdebian target repository using dpkg --compare-versions.

Unlike rmadison, em_newer em_newer uses data downloaded by emtargetcmp and apt-cross -c so as long as these are up to date, em_newer does not need internet access every time it is run.

If the Debian version is newer, em_newer simply outputs a message to that effect, indicating that an upload is needed.

COMMANDS

em_newer takes only one argument, a package name.
