NAME

panzers - a 3D multiplayer tank game.

SYNOPSIS

panzers hostname

DESCRIPTION

Panzers is a 3D multiplayer tank game. The player takes control of a tank and tries to blast enemy vehicles. The action is seen from below and above the tank and takes place in a fully 3D world.

It is developed using OpenSceneGraph and SDL.

panzers is the graphical client of the game.

OPTIONS

hostname
the name of the host where the server runs. Eg. localhost.

SETUP CONTROLS

When setting up the game the following keys are used:
arrow left
rotate the selection of tanks left.
arrow right
rotate the selection of tanks right.
enter
select the current vehicle.

GAME CONTROLS

Controlling the vehicle

When playing the game these keys are used to control the movement of the vehicle:

arrow left
rotate the selection of tanks left.
arrow right
rotate the selection of tanks right.
arrow up
accelerate the vehicle. The speed increases as long as the key is pressed, until the max speed of the vehicle has been reached.
arrow down
break the vehicle. The speed decreases as long as the key is pressed, until the vehicle stands still.

The speed of the vehicle remains constant until you accelerate or brake it.

Controlling the turret and gun

z
turns the gun left. Note that not all vehicles can turn the gun.
c
turns the gun right.
s
raises the gun. Note that not all vehicles can control gun elevation the gun.
x
lowers the gun.
space bar
fires a shell. After the shell is fired the vehicle will reload a new shell, and can thus not fire for s little while, typically a few seconds. Heavy tanks with larger guns have a longer reloading time than smaller vehicles with lighter guns.

Other keys

escape
quits Panzers immediately.
