NAME

dcbd - Data Center Bridging capabilities exchange daemon

SYNOPSIS

dcbd [-h] [-v] [-d] [-f filename]

DESCRIPTION

Executes the Data Center Bridging (DCB) capabilities exchange protocol on DCB capable Ethernet interfaces in order to exchange DCB configuration with the peer device.

Major functions of dcbd include:
- retrieving and storing DCB configuration to a configuration file
- configuring the DCB settings of the network driver based on the operation of the DCB capabilities exchange protocol
- detecting and reacting to link up and link down events on network ports
- supporting the following DCB features: Priority Groups, Priority Flow Control, FCoE and FCoE Logical Link Status.
- providing an interface for client applications to query and configure DCB features. Events are also generated on the client interface when the operational state or configuration of a feature changes.

dcbd supports the versions of the DCB capabilities exchange protocol described here:

version 1
<http://download.intel.com/technology/eedc/dcb_cep_spec.pdf>

and here:

version 2
<http://www.ieee802.org/1/files/public/docs2008/az-wadekar-dcbx-capability-exchange-discovery-protocol-1108-v1.01.pdf>

See dcbtool for information on how to configure which version of the protocol dcbd executes.

OPTIONS

dcbd has the following command line options:
-h
show usage information
-f filename
use the specified file as the configuration file instead of the default file: /etc/sysconfig/dcbd/dcbd.conf dcbd expects the directory of the configuration file to exist, but if the configuration file does not exist, then a default configuration file will be created.
