hardware-connected - indicates whether given hardware is connectedSYNOPSIS
hardware-connected [-hv] [-m MODNAME | MODALIAS_PATTERN ...]DESCRIPTION
hardware-connected indicates whether given hardware exists in the system via its return code.The tool matches modalias patterns passed as command line parameters or on standard input against /sys/devices/**/modalias (using the fnmatch function). When using the verbose mode, it also prints the matching modaliases on standard output.
Alternatively, it can query /sbin/modinfo for the modalias patterns of a kernel module.
OPTIONS
-h
- Show usage.
-v
- Be verbose: print matching modaliases on standard output.
-m MODNAME
- Query the modalias patterns from the module MODNAME using modinfo.
EXAMPLES
hardware-connected -m 8139too && echo yes
- Prints "yes" if an RTL-8139 ethernet interface is connected to the computer.
hardware-connected -v 'pci:*bc03sc00*'
- Prints the modalias of each VGA adapter connected to the PCI bus.
